Conflict and competition with the government
Guilds had much conflict and competition with the government Some Spanish monarchs saw the benefits that guilds were bringing to trade. Some monarchs saw guilds as a way to enrich the empire. Frederick II, the Holy Roman Emperor, blamed guilds for food shortages and price increases. Frederic used guilds to blame for increase in prices and many other things until he banned them from his land. The English Peasants Revolt was when poorer and less powerful guild members revolted against more powerful guild members who held government positions. As guilds became very powerful and rich lower class guild members felt unequal and protested. Guilds then died out because of there not being a need for them.
